Çiğdem Alper is a Licensed Family and Marriage Therapist (LMFT 83379) in California. Her theoretical orientation is Systemic Couple and Family Therapy.
She completed her Diploma in Psychology from London Metropolitan University in 2003. She worked at the Northover Community Mental Health Center affiliated with NHS for two years. She also served in the Hearing Voices Project at the Deptford Centre and worked in weekly therapeutic support groups.
In 2006, she completed her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (Integral Counseling Psychology). The same year, she started working at the Haight Ashbury Psychological Center with a team that integrated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Systemic Approaches. During this time, she gained experience in individual and couples therapy.
In 2007, she started working at the Center for Healthy Development. She gained experience working with children and families, particularly on the effects of severe divorce, by collaborating with the Family Court. In addition to providing counseling services to individuals, couples, and families, she also managed “Highly Conflictual Parents” and “Parenting Without Violence” groups.
In 2008, she received Short-Term Therapy training at the Palo Alto Mental Research Institute and provided counseling services to young people and families at East Palo Alto High School.
In 2009, she returned to Turkey and started working at the Institute of Relationship Psychotherapies. In 2014, she founded the Urla Psychotherapy Center. After four years, she founded the Yasamca Family Counseling Center in 2019 with her growing team to provide services in broader areas.
